I have an HP remote made for Windows Media Center that comes with an IR unit that connects via USB.  I thought that this should work for providing me a physical remote to use at times when my iPad is busy doing something else.  Of course, it isn't working.  :-(

The IR unit shows as registered and working via the Device Manager in WIN 8, yet the remote doesn't work at all (for J River or Windows Media Center).  I can see that the IR unit is receiving the request from the remote, but nothing is happening in WIN 8.

When I connect this IR unit to one of my WIN 7 machines, it works perfectly with no issues.

Thoughts?

Nobody else has experienced this issue?

I am really hoping that it is something silly on my end that I am doing wrong.
