How do I turn off/on the filter?

Kevin,

If you are using v8, click on the playback settings button (it's the one way to the right in the player, right under the volume control), select Playback Filter.

If you are using v7, oh boy, let's see if I can remember... You might have to be in the Playing Now screen.  Near the top right, near the BUY or FIND CD button, there is a filter option.  Perhaps someone who is still using v7 can provide more details.
