When syncing some files get error: why?
« on: December 23, 2013, 07:47:13 am »

I'm syncing my device at the moment - some 13,000 to go.
Problem is that some files aren't synced every time I try it. The status column says 'Error'.
The rest of the files are synced without a problem
How can I find out why this error is given?

All files are mp3 and can be played within MC without any problem.

Thanks for helping.

Are you syncing to the device using a copy of MC in client mode?

I've seen this when I was using it that way, many times.

Client mode? What's that? Where can I check that?

Are you connecting to a remote copy of MC serving the Library (on a different machine)?

If not, it is probably a permissions issue with the files in question.

I have received a generic Error like this when the path on the device where the file will be synced contains characters that the device doesn't like.  In my case I ended up using a path with an expression to clean up extra periods in the paths: e.g Music\RemoveCharacters([Artist]\[Album],.,0)\

I'm using a local copy of MC and the files are on the same computer. However: I've mapped my D:\Music drive to driveletter R:
Might that cause some issues?

Still: if that is a problem, why does 95% of the files succeed?
