Performance
« on: January 27, 2014, 01:39:25 pm »

I have a CAPS1  server - seen on Computer Audiophile.  Barely has a heatbeat, meaurement wise (can't remember performance score-might have 300-400 or such) - ie, slow and can lock up if one jumps around too fast.  Tolerable  (sort of) but clearly  not wonderful

I use JRemote on the iPad and the performance is more than acceptable.  Almost never locks up, searches are fast, updates pretty spiffy

1) Does this mean most of the database processing is done on the iPad?  That it just works better for whatever reason?

2) I don't really need to change now (as JRemote works so well) but if I did (were to get a faster PC),  would I expect better performance?

Thanks

What is the full version of MC that you're using?  19.0.108 is now on the download page.

No, the database processing is done on box which runs MC, however just returning a bit of data from the database isn't that much a taxing operation, since the DB is pretty optimized.

Its hard to say without seeing how it behaves now, but in general everything gets faster when your PC gets faster.
If you might notice a significant change in performance is impossible to answer, however.

No, JRemote asks MC for the information via an HTTP (web) protocol.
