21:9 movies -> OSD in black bars remains
« on: January 25, 2014, 02:23:48 am »

So I got me one of the latest NUCs with HD5000 to replace my old HTPC. Windows 8.1, all updates, all latest drivers. I'm using ROHQ/madVR in exclusive mode.

MC's OSD at the bottom and texts like 'exclusive' in the upper left corner when its switching to exclusive mode remain on screen in the black bars for movies > 16:9. When the movie is 16:9, there is no problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks!

I've seen this as well recently, and i figure madVR would be responsible to clear this, since its the thing doing the drawing, but I'm not certain.

Thanks. I tried windowed mode but that doesn't help.

I'll try RO standard later today.

What's funny is that when I enable Madvr stats, part of that is drawn in the black bar. When I disable it, it dissapears in the picture part but the numbers in the black part of the screen looks like its still updating as the numbers are changing constantly.

Thanks csimon.

Latest Intel drivers I presume? Maybe the problem lies there?

It was certainly up to date at the time, I don't know if there have been any further updates.

I wonder, did I only see it on Intel...?

I'll test again.

PS. If it's the same issue that I've been experiencing then Exclusive mode is not relevant - up until about two weeks ago I hadn't been using Exclusive.

Windowed or exclusive doesn't matter, I mentioned that in my OP.

I haven't gotten around to testing RO standard yet though, guess it will have to wait until tomorrow.

I tested around a bit, and the issue happens only on Intel GPUs, and only if you have the option "use separate device for presentation" in madVRs general rendering settings active.
I think I read somewhere that this is a Intel bug. Not sure if unchecking the option has any downsides, so I suggest to try that for now.

Awesome! Thanks Hendrik :D

I missed your reply and came back to ask whether there was a work around :).

Unfortunately, it does not change anything for me. OSD remains at the bottom.

I'll have a look tonight, I hadn't tested it myself yet.

I think it worked for me but I didn't do extensive testing, will try again.

Works beautifully here, just tested it but you have to stop and start playback, it isn't immediately active like some of the other settings.

Sorry, still no luck here. OSD sticks right below the picture within the black bar in Display View. I can make do with that but any suggestions are appreciated nonetheless.
