MediaCenter on Jessie
« on: March 21, 2014, 05:49:03 pm »

I just got my wife another laptop because the old one died. It's an Asus N55SF. It has something called Optimus, an Intel integrated GPU with 2nd Nvidia GPU and its able to switch.

Long story short, to get that to work properly I had to update to Jessie.

Now, when I try to install the latest MC it says it wants libtasn1-3:i386 but that isn't installable. I have libtasn1-6:i386 installed though.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks.

Funny, I just tried this yesterday. Once installed, it does work.
You could apt-get -f install
which will uninstall the partially installed MC, then
unpack the .deb and copy stuff into place manually.
I pointed out the method somewhere on this forum previously.
In the long run, the fix is probably for me to relax the version requirements for libtasn if possible.

I couldn't find your specific post about extracting/manual installation, I simply extracted the data.tar.gz and copied the subfolders to /usr. I asume that's all there is to it?

mediacenter19 launches but when I try to add a library server it segfaults. It also does not remember position (I thought this was fixed?)

I tried to be smart and copy settings from my own pc. MC loads and shows all the new settings including the remote library server, but as soon as I try to load the servers' library, it segfaults again.

Looks like MC's unstable on Jessie.
I'd guess it's a libcurl incompatibility based on the behavior.
