What Happened. Choppy playback of CD
« on: February 20, 2002, 04:30:42 am »

When I first got mj8.207 I could play a whole cd of mp3 or wma files (over 200 songs) with no problem. Now suddenly after the fourth or fifth song I get choppy playback. I defragged my hard drive and still have the problem. This is unacceptable as that is the main reason I bought mj. Can't think of anything I changed. Running 450 dell with windows me and 4.5 gig of hard drive space available.

Try unchecking digital playback in settings/options/

Other programs running in background?

Windows update?  In IE, try Tools/Windows Update.

Tried unchecking digital playback. It went bad on the third song. I still use netscape. When I first got it I was playing solitaire, and even bridge and cruising the internet with no problems.

Could be a program running in the background as when I defragged my hard drive I had to do it in safe mode as it kept going back to read changing drive info. I looked in the startup menu but not sure what it would be.

You don't have something like "goback" running do you?

Don't have that program although I think Windows ME may have a similar feature.

I see I have no problem playing songs from my hard drive. Just on my two cd players.

I take that back. I do have problems playing songs off my hard drive, but not until 13 or 14 songs have played. Reloading MJ solves the problem for a while.

I too have had that problem... just with files on the hard drive (don't use the cd player much). Restarting MJ or the whole machine fixes it for awhile. Love to hear suggestions.
