Please help. I have a serious problem when play some iso SACD files. Just a few second playback CPU usage rapid increase to 100% and shutdown my laptop. But those files can playback in my Mac mini with Audirvana Plus without any problem.

What specs are your laptop? Cpu type and speed? How much RAM?

Can you run Help/Benchmark on your laptop and post the results please?

In any case, a laptop should be able to run 100% cpu usage. The fact that it shuts down means its overheating. This is not good. Is it clogged up with dust? Do you hear the fan ramping up?

I use MYTEK STEREO 192 DSD.

i5 with a jrmark of around 2000 should be able to play DSD. If I remember correctly its borderline though, 2000 was said to be the minimum.

Are you bitstreaming DSD?
What is output format set to?
Are you processing, volume control, equalizer, other DSP settings?
Are you using memory playback?

Decompressing DST compressed SACDs is quite CPU intensive, it may just be too much.

Yes, I play bitstream DSD to Mytek.
Output setting is Mytek ASIO.
No, I don't use any processing.
Yes, it play with memory playback.

Those can play some ISO SACD and every .dsf files I have without problem.

Take note of what Hendrik said as well.

I admit I don't know how this works in this particular case, because you're bitstreaming.

Bitstreaming should normally use very little cpu power, but I don't know if DST is bitstreamed or whether that needs to be decompressed before being bitstreamed.

But seriously, I have to repeat this again: a laptop shutting down from overheating is NOT a good sign. You really should fix that.

Maybe your laptop is fast enough. But what happens due to the heat it generates it will first start throttling down the frequency (ie, make it slower). When that is not enough, it shuts down. This means you really have a problem.

I admit I didn't consider you being in Bangkok ;).

Thanks for the screenshots. I think that looks good. Its on the hot side for the load its running on but I suppose that's explainable considering where you are located.

I suppose the question now is how hot is your room, and is it within the manufacturers' operating temperature specifications? If your room temperature is higher than the max operating temperature than your shutdowns are expected.

If you're already running at nearly 70°C with barely any CPU load, its no surprise that higher load causes your system to throttle and shut down.

Even when bitstreaming DSD, the DST compression certain SACD's use needs to be removed first, and this decompression is quite CPU intensive.
In general, I think your laptop would be able to handle it, but if it overheats from the load, it'll throttle down and potentially even crash or turn off, as you've experienced.

Thanks for every reply. Maybe the cpu cooling system was malfunction. I will check it first.

It almost certainly does.  No Core i5 should idle (or run with low CPU usage) at, or even near, 70°C.

The shutdowns are because your CPU is overheating, and it is being forced to shut down by the thermal protection in the CPU.  Well before that, it is probably substantially throttling your CPUs clockspeed, but even that isn't enough to keep it cool enough.

My guess is that the cooling system on your laptop has completely failed.  Perhaps simply because the vents are blocked, but possibly because the fan has died.

I would agree, but if his room is 50 degrees C there may not be much wrong with the laptop's cooling.
