FLAC/mp3 tagging in MC
« on: May 13, 2014, 08:12:37 am »

Hello,

I recently transcoded my Apple Lossless/AIFF library to uncompressed FLAC via dBpoweramp Batch Converter. For the most part, the metadata transferred intact. In some instances, however, the metadata did not transfer as desired (e.g., Genre, Grouping, Date, Album Artist Sort Order). As such, I have been trying to update the information via MC. Unfortunately, the fields/tags I have edited in MC are not transferring/saving in the files' tags, which I can confirm by looking at the information via right-clicking the file and selecting Edit ID-Tag. I have the "Update tags when file info changes" box checked in Options, and have even tried right-clicking selected filed in MC and using the "Update tags from library" command in Library Tools.

Any insight/advice into this matter would be greatly appreciated, as I previously did not have a problem editing my Apple Lossless/AIFF files with MC.

Thanks,
Tim

Are the database entries still valid in MC after the conversion? i.e. is MC pointing at the correct file with the flac extension and not the old m4a extension

Also, any reason why you didn't just convert in MC?

Are the files or the folders write protected?
Or any user access rights limitations in place?

Bryan: File paths are correct. Re: Converting in MC, I did not know that was an option (my ignorance).

Andrew: No write-protection or user access rights limitations.

Any other thoughts? Let me know if either of you need any further information.

Thanks,
Tim

Gentlemen,

Alright, I'm a moron. It appears that my new FLAC files are all read-only (darnit). As I have 49,648 of them in 4,409 folders, does anyone know of a way to remove this attribute without having to manually fix every folder?

Thanks,
Tim

Windows Explorer ¦ select all files and folders ¦ right click ¦ properties ¦ attributes ¦ read-only ¦ uncheck the box ¦ ok
