keep playlist & categories - data
« on: February 14, 2002, 02:09:02 am »

Hi !

I have installed MJ on another faster PC (AMD1700, WinXP). Now Iīd like to keep my playlists und categories. Copying the files from the data directory is not enough, as the location of the music files has changed, too. When I open e.g. the "categories.jmd" - file I unfortunately cannot modify it.

Any idea of what I could do ?

Cheers,
Martin

There is no real easy way to do this in 7.2.280. There is in 8, though. Have you considered upgrading?

I tried version 8 but wasnīt able to import media files at all.
- Did I do something wrong ?
- Is that a known bug ?
- Or should I just try it again ?

Thanx anyway !!!

Copy your .jmd files to the other computer, open that library up in MJ, select all files in File Properties, and go to Tools, Find & Replace, then replace the path from your old PC with the path to where they are now.

So let's say they were on C:\Music before and now they're in C:\Documents And Settings\Flutsch\My Documents\My Music, you'd search for C:\Music and replace it with C:\Documents And Settings\Flutsch\My Documents\My Music

Iīve tried that using version 8.206 ... but thereīs no "Find/Replace" anywhere.

Anyway, thanx for your help. I think as the new version offersa new possibilities I have to re-do some things anyway. So donīt worry ...
