DLNA discovery after PC sleep [addressed 19.0.144]
« on: December 18, 2013, 12:40:23 am »

Hi,

JR MC 19.0.91 with Windows 7 x64 SP1.

The PC is configured to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity.  When the PC is woken, the two WD TV Live SMP devices on the network do not have the JR Media server available to them.  It typically takes a long time for the server to become available (I haven't timed it for some time - but can do so if requested).   To speed things up we close JR and its Media Server and restart.  The media server is then immediately available on the WD devices.

Is there any setting in JR to hasten discovery?  If not would the Devs please consider a change to JR so that it initiates discovery when a PC recovers from a sleep state?

thx,

Steve

Currently MC does not have a setting to hasten discovery. However your request to the developers is very valid: MC should indeed respond to Windows wm_PowerBroadcast messages, by 1) sending Bye Bye notifications when the machine enters sleep, and 2) sending Alive notifications when it resumes...
