USB Device Upload
« on: February 12, 2002, 08:38:11 am »

Is it possible that MJ remembers the subdirectory I've dragged my first file in on my USB Device ?
So when I double click to SEND TO my device, that it would automatic go to the previously chosen dubdirectory
in stead of the root.

I think this works already.  If you drag a file to a subdirectory and have double click to SendTo enabled all should work as you want. If not, get the next MJ version and verify that it doesn't and let us know.

Thanks,

Steve

It worked for older MJ8 versions.
With build 203 it doesn't work anymore, always to the root if you double click.
Also, the Send to (with the red bull) says "Device - CD Burner (HNext Page" in stead of just a removable device.

Bennyd,

The SendTo with the RedBull is definitely fixed in the next build. When you get it can you report if the other problem is also still present. I think it will go away.

Hi Steve,

I will test whenever there is a new build.

Three other things I just noticed.
1. When uploading, the write progress bar resets always after 1 little bar to zero again.
2. If I remember well, the name and artist where shown (in a previous built) of files already on there, now there is only the name (if not uploading but just looking at the content of the device via MJ)
3. The order of uploading files is not the order of the files on the view, I can't see an ordered sequence, maybe date or something ?

Hi Steve,

I tested with build 205, these are the results:

Fixed:
- Send to bullet displays correct name
- Name and artist are shown correctly now
- MJ remembers subdirectories last dragged to
Not Fixed:
- When uploading, the write progress bar resets always after a time to zero again. (try with more than 20 files to upload)
- The order of uploading files is not the order of the files on the view, I can't see an ordered sequence, maybe date or something ?
(this happens with a lot of files, not with 10, try more than 20)

Thanks

Hi Steve,

The order seems OK now on my XP machine (very weird), so the only problem left is:

- When uploading, the write progress bar resets always after a time to zero again. (try with more than 20 files to upload)

Bennyd,

I made some modifications. Could you try the next build of MJ and let me know if the reset is fixed.

In regards to the upload order, you can change the view of the files before you upload, but the upload order is set when you either drag and drop or send-to the device.

Doof,

I think I also fixed your column display bug.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

Write progress bar is working now, thanks

I noticed some other small things :
If I look on my USB device to songs already on there via MJ, it shows only one column (name), when expanding this columns to see the complete filename,
- when then going to media library or playing now, I lost all my columns except name.
- When clicking on cancel during upload, the status says cancelling but keeps cancelling forever, MJ hangs then
- Uploading sequence : If we click on a columns to sort, is there a possibility to go back to the original upload sequence (like a column that has the sequence number in it ?)

Bennyd,

- If I look on my USB device to songs already on there via MJ, it shows only one column (name), when expanding this columns to see the complete filename

- when then going to media library or playing now, I lost all my columns except name.

When you see only one column, can you right click on the area where you see the columns (i.e. name) and make sure "type" and "size" are also checked. Name, type and size are the three columns we display for removable drive devices, but we will only show this information if the columns are selected.  If you drag and drop a file onto the player and then view the files at the root level where you can select the upload, we show all the column information so that we can report the information for the virtual files. As far as I can tell, this works.  If this still doesn't work for you please refresh for me your O/S and version information (Portable Drives Plugin and MJ)and what type of Device you have so I can try to duplicate it here.

- When clicking on cancel during upload, the status says cancelling but keeps cancelling forever, MJ hangs then

I can't duplicate this on 2000 with Plug-in 3.0.8.

- Uploading sequence : If we click on a columns to sort, is there a possibility to go back to the original upload sequence (like a column that has the sequence number in it ?)

Maybe, I will try to come up with a way to do this that doesn't complicate the view.

Hi Steve,

I only have "Name" on there because on my default views I dont't have "type" and "size" selected. But the problem is when I resize the "name" column on the USB device view in MJ and then click on "playing now" or "media library" that ONLY the name column is shown in "Playing now" and "Media library" and all others like artist, genre, time etc. are gone. If I don't resize the name column in the devices view, all is well.

I have WinXP, NEO Jukebox, driver 3.08
