Opening Sound Files from Windows Explorer
« on: February 20, 2003, 10:59:17 am »

What settings must I change such that sound files that I double-click in Windows Explorer windows will start playing in Media Jukebox?  If I open a file with Media Jukebox closed, Media Jukebox will load automatically open and start playing the song.  However, if Media Jukebox is already loaded, I cannot initiate playback of a song from outside of the program.  I've attempted to change the settings through the File Types applet in Windows Folder Options.  The default string for Media Jukebox files is "C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Media Jukebox.exe" /Play "%L".  Might altering the string that follows /Play allow me to open files from outside of the program as I would like?

That's the problem, your string should look like this (in W2k)....

"C:\WINNT\System32\mjextman.exe" /Play "%L"

Verify the location of mjextman and change the string to suit. Easiest way may be just to re-install latest MJ over current version which should correct the association.
