I have gone to the plugin page and downloaded Gooroomp and can select it,  but no lyrics for any song are shown.  How are those downloaded and displayed?

I use MiniLyrics

Works really well, downloads lyrics almost instantly

Also saves lyrics into song file so if you do not have an internet connection at some time the lyrics are still there

I leave it minimised all the time so every song I play the words are saved automaticaly

I have it set to only download .lrc files which are more in sync I believe

And it is a plug in for MC so shows in the Services and plugins on the left list

Does it update the Lyrics tag inside MC automatically?  Trying it now but cannot get it to save them?

Not sure if it saves into MC quite unlikely

Right Click on the main screen

In Preferences / Lyrics you can tell MiniLyrics to save to "song File" then it saves to the songs ID3 data

Tick embedded lyrics for MiniLyrics

Then in advanced "only download synced Lyrics .lrc" - Yes

Just bought this app.  It would be real nice if we could see it in theater view - like a playing now or Display View.  Have a view named Show Lyrics or something..

You can set it up in both JRiver and Minilyrics to be seen in Theater View.  There is a check box "always on top" in Media Center to uncheck and one to check in MiniLyrics.  You can move Minilyrics to whatever position you want.
