Complete VA album seen as 'Single Artists'
« on: November 25, 2014, 08:24:05 am »

I have an album of multiple artists (O Brother Where Art Thou?), which MC recognizes as type 'Single Artist (complete)' instead of 'Multiple Artists (complete)'.  For example, see the screen grab of the 'Tag' window.  I am usually able to figure this out by scrolling thru the tags and finding something that '[Varies]', but should be a constant, but this time I cannot.  E.G, if I delete the 'Album Artist (auto)' tags (that should default to 'Multiple Artists') it deletes the individual 'Artist' tags.

I've made sure the track numbering is correct and contiguous. Please advise ...

MC v.20.0.41
TIA  :)

I can't tell from your screenshot you need to post a panes type view or detail of the track artist column.  Probably linked to the album artist auto rule or you have multiple artists per track and one is on more than 70% of the tracks, not really the end of the world as long as your tags are ok and the album is complete and contiguous in your views.

Thanks for your reply! I've attached the entire MC window.  The Artists shown in column could be either 'Artist' or 'Album Artist (auto)' as you can see from the Tag window which is showing only the selected track rather than for all tracks (see previous post).

The reason it is listed as a single artist is likely because Gillian welch and Allison Krause are artists on over 70% of the tracks, so the other artists are considered as 'featured guests'.  I think arindelle was trying to get you to post a pane view of the entire album so we could confirm this

You Can manually enter (multiple artists) as the album artist, is one way of dealing with it.

Thanks!!  Forcing 'Multiple Artists' into the 'Album Artists' field worked :) ... however, Gillian Welch & Alison Krauss are only only on 2 of the 19 tracks, among 15 other artists(?) ?

the album artist (auto) field is somewhat of a mystery to me

i've forced a few through manually rather than bother to figure out why it happens :)  it all comes out the same in the end so i never cared much
