Trouble importing
« on: January 24, 2002, 10:29:29 am »

I'm having trouble importing certain files into MJ. I have close to 5,000 files in two different directories, and when I attempt to import into MJ, the vast majority go through fine. But there's always a couple dozen or so that consistently refuse to import. I can't figure out why. The files themselves are not corrupt - Winamp is able to play them fine. But for some reason, MJ can't import them.

One thing that seems to be consistent in several of these files is that they have "funky" characters in them, i.e. French letters ("e" with a squiggly on top of it, etc.) I wonder if that may be why MJ can't import them. I've tried to rename the files, but Windows won't let me. Then again, I have other files whose tags are written in foreign languages that don't use English script, so their file names are completely nonsensical characters. MJ has no trouble importing these files. So I'm at a loss as to why it can't deal with some French ones.

Please help!
