ASIO Problem with Pinnacle
« on: March 02, 2015, 08:16:45 am »

Hello I have updated my Pono Music World and it is working great.
I have just notice that when I use my Pinnacle 12 Plus program I am getting no sound and it comes up with a Pono window stating that the Pono software is the wrong format

If I uninstall Pono World Pinnacle 12 works fine

I am running Windows 7

Pinnacle may be using PMW's ASIO interface.  You can disable ASIO support in settings.

General > Features > ASIO Driver

There is a search window at the bottom of the options.

Sorry, Pono wanted a lot of the options removed, and that was one of them.  I've attached a registry script which will turn off the ASIO Driver support in PMW.  Just unzip it onto your system and double-click or "Run" it.

Did you reboot?

MC and PMW are different.

Look for a fix from Pinnacle.  The problem is that they are opening every ASIO interface available and it isn't needed.

Yes I rebooted my computer but it made no difference
I really like the Pono Music World program and I am enjoying using my Pono Player, but I also need to use Pinnacle

I will contact Pinnacle but I think I will know what they will say and I guess I cant blame them as PMW has broken my Pinnacle

Mmmm.....

Well I just uninstalled PMW and re installed the 20.0.50 version and everything works fine

so I will continue using the old version

I hope that helps with ironing out some of the bugs in the new program

Do you have Media Center installed on the same computer?
If so, there are two things you could try (let us know if either one helps):

1. Disable the ASIO plugin in Media Center.

2. Uninstall the JRiver WDM driver using Device Manager:

I had the PonoMusic World ASIO driver still showing up.
I reinstalled the latest PonoMusic World using the "custom" option instead of "express" and the ASIO driver got removed.
All of my other upgrades and installs have been the "express" install.
Seems it may need a "custom" install to get the ASIO feature actually removed.

Just an update on this I uninstalled Pono and then reinstalled the latest version of Pono, this was the one that was giving me trouble

All seems to be working fine and Pinnacle is working also

So maybe it is because of the Zip file that has taken the ASIO driver from the Registry,y I just needed to uninstall and reinstall for it to have worked

thanks for all your help on this

Glad it's working for you.  If you do run Media Center again and then experience the Pinnacle ASIO problem, let us know about the conflict.  Thanks.

I too also ran the registry script that turned off the ASIO driver.  Then I did a reinstall using the custom install option instead of express.  After that the ASIO driver for PMW was gone.

I didn't try doing a custom reinstall before running the registry script.  I don't know if running the registry script was necessary to get the custom reinstall to remove the ASIO driver or not.
