32bit floating point?
« on: March 02, 2015, 07:16:38 pm »

Hi

Is it possible to set the internal processing of MC to 32bit?

I'm trying to install a VST that crackles and pops when engaged, the developer thinks it may be because of the 64bit internal processing.

The VST works in a standalone version of plogue bidule.

Thanks

The internal processing is 64bit only.  Sorry.

But 64bit and 32bit floating point processing are almost the same speed.

Obviously the memory usage is higher, but that's not causing you trouble.

You might try increasing the buffering in Options > Audio if you're having hiccups.

I appreciate the reply.

I have tried increasing the buffering speed but this did not help, I will however take another look.

Do JRiver ever plan on releasing a fully 64bit product that supports 64bit VSTs without the conversion process?

Thanks

It might be useful to know what plug-in you are trying to use.

MC is a fully 64bit playback chain.

I think he means 64-bit VST plug-ins. (i.e. for 64-bit applications)
Not 64-bit processing.

A 64bit version of MC is not on the short list.  Sorry.

It's a big change that offers very limited benefits (even to users on a 64bit platform).

Yes, I know that it's not on the short list. I was pointing out that this is where the confusion stemmed from.
