Several ATSC Cards and Colossus Playback Setup
« on: April 10, 2015, 12:35:58 pm »

All Right,

I've spent a fair amount of time setting up my Colossus and 3 ATSC Cards to see if I can give JRiver a shot instead of SageTv.

In the Channel setup I chose one Hauppage card (Hauppage 950Q) to be the favorite for my Local Channels (as it is not sensitive enough for US Channels)
I've also setup the priority of the ATSC cards from Most sensitive first (Two Hauppage 125) , then the Colossus and then the Analog Part of the ATSC Cards. In the Device setup.

The goal is to always have the 950 choose the local channels first and have the other two handle the weakest channels on channel change in theater view. Then the Colossus for STB.

Now what's happening is whatever card ends up being used the first time will get chosen even for all ATSC Channels.

Now something that seems to be a new issue.  It will also try to do the STB channels that should be handled by the Colossus.  I'm getting the error: The Analog Channel could not be found on the Analog device currently in Use.

MC20 also crashed once.  Maybe that has something to do with this.  Rebooting didn't solve it.

I found one issue: The Colossus Capture Device and Capture Channel were gone in the attributes under the Channel setup...Was it due to the crash or me deleting the Devices in the Channel list at the end...Not sure...I've re-entered the Channels and left the SDigital there as it's the one used by the Colossus...
That's one thing resolved but I would love to get answers as to how The priorities work (if it's a bug or me not doing it correctly...)

Thx

About the Capture device and capture channel issue, which version were you using?

20.0.90 (4/6/2015)

1. Fixed: When in Manage Channels tool, the "Playback Device" field of STB television channels could in rare cases be messed up.
2. Fixed: When editing an STB television channel, the changed "Playback Device" would not be saved.

If you are not using the latest (.93), please go get it.  It is out on the MC20 board today.

Regarding tuner priority, it is possible that the old logic of always using a tuner that is already loaded is still in effect.  I will take a look.

Thank You Sir. I'll go download this now!! :)

One more question about guides..
With my current setup I need three different feeds for all my channels:
One for STB
One for US Channels over OTA ATSC
An extra one for one channel missing in the 2 above therefore need to get it from The Local Canadian Cable co here.

I already have two profiles one for ATSC the other for STB.
Should I have another profile for the ATSC Channel missing or should I just the setup on the ATSC to get that Channel missing?

Thx

OK I've upgraded to 20.0.93.  I redid my channel setup and all seems ok.

However I still have the same issue where when flipping through channels it will ignore The Favorite device for a specific Channel...Unless I hit Stop and restart the TV program then it will use that Favorite Card.

This won't work for me as this card is unable to grab some US channels...The idea is good but it also needs to work when changing channels.  (Which is still fairly slow but it seems to be getting better and better...)

Thx for all the changes I've quickly gone through the release notes...Impressive!  Especially the comskip one that I will try later on...

If I could get my multiple folders or hard drives per profile fro TV I would be a happy man!!!

Just another side note.  I really think the ATSC Cards should be allowed to be in different profiles so that we can test each of them out for signal quality.  This is one thing I absolutely need if I do not want to depend on Sage or another software.
Not sure how this could be implemented but it could come in handy...

Yaobing I did some more tests...If I switch channels from the SBT (Colossus) to an ATSC channel that has a specific card as a favorite it will work!

So going back and forth through th STB will use the proper ATSC card but when flipping through ATSC channels it will remain on the same ATSC capture card...Not good...

Hopefully this is an easy fix  ;)

Thx

To answer your question on EPG, no you do not need another tuner profile, but you need another EPG mode.

To set it up, just go to Tools > Options > Television, and click "Load Program Guide...".  On the dialog window you should see two listed.  Click Add button to add another one.  This one is not directly associated with any tuner profile, but will work just the same.  Make sure the checkbox in front of each item that you want to use are checked.
