Latest on ripping DVD Video and Audio and Blu-Ray Music ?
« on: April 10, 2015, 09:28:59 pm »

So there is a lot of info, some pretty old the subject.

But in current simple terms, is there a way to rip the discs I mentioned above, just like you do a CD ?

Or does it require additional software, and or a more involved process. If it does I would just keep using those discs as I do now.

If the disks have copy protection, you will need to run a program to remove protection, like Slysoft's "AnyDVD HD", during the ripping process.

The other option to AnyDVD is to use MakeMKV

It works with Linux, Mac and Windows and has been in an ongoing beta phase for years, so you can do an extended evaluation without needing to commit financially. Cuts through protection and geo-blocking without skipping a beat.

Give it a go and see how you find it. If you don't like it, uninstall it and you're no worse off.

MakeMKV works for video discs, but not DVD-Audio or BD-Audio discs.
DVD Audio discs are not that complicated to rip via Foobar2000.
If I have time, I'll see about writing up a guide. I think I might still have a DVD-A lying around here rather than put away in storage.
