Author Topic: Another novice question: Many albums missing track numbers  (Read 1252 times)

I was using MediaMonkey and recently imported the library from work done there. Many albums ended up without track numbers in JRiver while they have them in MediaMonkey. How do I get JRiver to recognize the track numbers for all albums? Also, is there a setting when ripping in JRiver to insure it records track numbers?

The track numbers are probably not in the tags, or they would be recognized by MC.

If you rip in MC, the tracks are stored in the library by default.  If you want them stored in the metadata of the track, you can set MC to do that.

If your tracks really don't have track numbers, ouch.  You really want those to be there.  If they are definitely in MediaMonkey, you should go back there and make MediaMonkey write those values to the tags.  I did a web search and found this:

Looks like just one command (see near the bottom of the link) will do it.

If the Track Numbers are included as part of the filenames, then Media Center can easily extract the metadata from the filenames using the Library Tools > Fill Properties from Filename tool.

This wiki page is still a stub, but the linked thread has basically all the info you should need to get fixed up:
