Synology NAS - best way to hibernate/wake
« on: July 24, 2015, 12:55:06 pm »

Running JRiver 20 (21 soon) and Win 7/64 with Synology 415+ NAS.  Want to avoid needless wear/tear on the Hitachi 4Tb drives and am looking for the optimum way to do that while still allowing rapid wakeup when I want to hear music.

Has anyone solved this to their satisfaction, or does rapid access simply mean leaving the Synology on 24/7?

Hard drives get more wear and tear from repeated spin down/start up than from continuous running.
