Artist/Album view
« on: September 14, 2003, 02:52:14 pm »

I think I missed a post a while back discussing this.  I've installed subsequent installs of MC when tey come out but I can't seem to get back to the Artist/Album view.  Am I missing  something?

Maybe you deleted it on accident?  No problem.  Just recreated it.

I'll take a look.  I think I may have grabbed a MC, when there was just the "multilist" selector on the right hand side.

That is,
          Media Library
               Audio
                       Album Type
                       Albums (grouped)
                       Artists (grouped)
                       ...
                       ...
But no Artist/Album
Was on the left and the multilist was on the right.

Okay, well, just do the following:

  • Right-click (and release) on Audio branch;
  • Select Add View Scheme --> Custom...;
  • Just select "OK" in the "View Scheme Properties" dialog box;
  • You now have a new empty view--highlight that view;
  • On top of the pane window (where it says "Empty (click here to configure)"), right-click and select Add Column --> Artist;
  • Repeat previous step, but now select Add Column --> Album.

You now have an Album/Artist view. :)

Not quite what I was looking for.  I have installed some version of MC that has an Artist/Album view on the left that _expands_.  It is a node under Audio.

When creating or editing a view scheme, there is an option there entitled "Populate tree."  Make sure that is checked.  Anything else? :)

That did it.  I don't think I'm dense, I just didn't remember ever doing that and I knew at one time I had it.  Thanks.

Thanks.

Glad I could help.  Any time!  And I doubt anyone here thinks you're dense--certainly not me anyway.  MC is a powerful tool in which it's easy to get lost in with all its settings and options.  (Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is a subject for another thread. :))

I've been a loyal fan since MJ 6 (something) so I've seen (and felt) the growing pains;)  It's head and shoulders above the rest.  I really appreciate the DSP effort you guys put into the product.  IMHO, that's realy what makes it stand out.  It blows WMP, WinAMP, etc away mainly because of the sound quality.  Keep up the good work!
