Using JRiver ONLY for file management? Is this possible?
« on: December 01, 2015, 12:37:48 pm »

By which I mean: is it possible for JRiver Media Centre to use whatever is set in Windows to run a given media file, rather than attempt to play the file itself? For example, I want to watch a file that is a format for which I have VLC set as the default program, but currently if I try to run it from JRiver Media Centre it assumes I want to use JRiver's media player, which I've wrestled with before and still don't really like.

All I really want out of JRiver Media Centre is media management (IE. tracking when a thing was last watched), not a media player - I've got far more suitable applications for the latter and absolutely nothing else usable for the former.

Options > File Types

Set them to Playback Method: External program (default).
