Grado 325e vs. Grado 325i
« on: December 10, 2015, 12:46:45 pm »

Grado has a new pair of 325i headphones celebrating GradoLabs 50th Year Anniversary. The previous generation 325e model has generally received better acclaim from the audiophile community. Anyone who knows Grado may also know they are not a mass distributor, but instead a family owned company that hand-manufactures out of Brooklyn, NY. Why would Grado release a 50th year edition that is less desirable (to more people than not) than the previous generation? I would understand if Grado was a mass manufacturer just plugging a new release, but they're not. Not a mass distributor, anyway.

The i-series Grados were older than the e-series, and the anniversary 325s were released four or five years ago I think.  About three or four years ago all the i's were replaced with e's and the e's were much improved (in my opinion).  I say this as someone whose owned Sr60's, 225's, 325's and an R1 (some in both i and e).

So I think it's just that the anniversary edition was an older model.

Thank you for the clarification! I agree that the 325e is much better.
