Microsoft Remote Desktop

Is anyone able to control MC running on another PC, through Microsoft Remote Desktop on the local PC?
I have an AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC which works flawlessly on my home-entertainment-center-connected PC, but, when I try to control that PC remotely, the Dragonfly disappears from the Playback Devices available in Windows 10.
Any ideas out there?

you mean if you, via remote desktop, when you are looking at the windows settings for your HTPC it no longer shows up, but if you look at the HTPC locally (directly), it does?? That's weird if so.

Stopped using R.D. for a number of years now. You could download Teamviewer and check it through that (its free, very easy to set up, and IMO its much better/faster than Microsoft's version.)

Or are you saying something else?

When you connect to a machine using Remote Desktop then all user inputs and outputs are rerouted to the remote PC. This means mouse, keyboard, screen and sound. So it is totally obvious that audio will be rerouted away from your DAC. I am surprised that you are surprised.

Actually there are options for that, you can disable the audio redirection in the Remote Desktop Connection tool (mstsc).

I tend to only use RDC for maintenance tasks to MC on the HTPC. Don't these options allow for use of remote hardware...?

You understand correctly, but just to be absolutely clear:
At my home entertainment center, I have a PC running JRiver MC. That PC has an AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC and on-board audio. A song is playing through my sound system using the Dragonfly. I go to another computer, log into the home entertainment PC via MS Remote Desktop. Immediately on connecting, the music stops. On the remote connection, I see the home entertainment PC screen, with MC open, but not playing. When I open the Sound/Speaker configuration (via Control Panel or the System Tray), the only Playback Device available is the on-board audio. The Dragonfly has disappeared. I go back to the home entertainment PC and log back in. The Dragonfly is available and I can restart and play the song.
I have used TeamViewer in the past, and re-tried it just now. It does work, but, it is unacceptably slow, clunky and complicated compared to MS Remote Desktop.
By the way, the described problem is the same using Plex as my media server. It is also the same if I try to use MS Remote Desktop App for iOS on my iPad. The problem appears to be a combination of MS Remote Desktop and the AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC.
I will be experimenting with using the on-board audio directly to see what happens.
