Can MJ do "disc-at-once?"

By default ( in v8 ), burn mode is either TAO (most likely) or DAO. There is no option to switch between the two. There also is no option to leave the disk open (it will always finalize the CD...in other words, no multi-session capabilities). MC v9 has (or will have) a far superior burn engine.

To expand on that a little, with version 8 when you have the "use generic burner" checked, it always uses TAO. When this is unchecked, MJ uses DAO for audio burns and TAO for data burns.
If this checkbox is disabled and always checked, you are probably running WinNT/2000/XP and don't have ASPI installed. See the FAQ for how to install ASPI. The other possibility is your burner is only supported by the generic burning engine in MJ.

MJ 8 will do multi-session with data CD burns, but is always single session with audio burns.

Media Center 9 always uses DAO single-session for audio burns and TAO multi-session for data burns. It doesn't require any ASPI installation.

Now let me follow-up the DAO question with...
Is DAO what I'm looking for to burn an entire CD as one track to share in album form at WINmx?

I've searched the net for 2 hours looking for an answer but I couldn't find it......

I don't know anything about Winmx, but in order to use MJ to burn an entire album as one track, you'd have to have a single file on your disk that contains the entire album. If this is the case, either DAO or TAO will burn it as a single track.
However, DAO is considered superior for burning audio CD's in most cases. It's the "standard" way to do it.

Possibly what you mean is that you want to burn the whole album as one "session" rather than one track. In that case, DAO is the best way to go and you don't need to have the whole album in one file.

I don't know anything about Winmx as well.......
but are you sure you need to BURN a cd or to RIP a cd to do what you want to do?

WinMX is just another of the myriad of P2P programs for sharing music. I think "New_Shoes" is just looking for a way to rip the whole album in a way that can be downloaded whole at the other end, and ready to burn.

Yes...he must want a 1 track rip for the entire CD. Can't be done in MJ. Can be done (easily) in EAC. I composed a couple of ballads for JohnT in the past on this subject. I had hoped to swoon him, but I think the beat overwhelmed the lyrics, and the message was lost.

Beside the p2p aspect ,it is of great help when you have US live albums with silence between songs.
You can rip the full cd as one song without break .
Assuming you do not use mp3 format to do it ,of cause.

It has nothing to do with the target format. There is (simply) no way to tell MJ/MC NOT to split into individual tracks when ripping a CD. You can disable track splitting ONLY when you do a line-in record. I've harped on this for a LONG time.

But i saw in many forums that mp3 cannot stand long files.
I do not remember why .

Now Uno, you said there is a way with EAC...
As a rookie, I have no idea what EAC is...?

Could you or somebody please share with me how to do the one track rip of an CD?

EAC = Exact Audio Copy (do a search on the net for it)

There's a bit of set up involved but it will do these all track - one file rips. There is a EAC forum that can help get you started. Many people here are very familiar with the program as well.

I wouldn't publicly state your intent for the end use of the files. RIAA may be watching and open (music) file sharing discussions aren't too cool here.
