WDM problems
« on: August 18, 2016, 09:16:09 pm »

Using the trial version of JR 22, loading Media Server at startup, I created a zone for the WDM driver,

the Audio device set to "High definition audio device [Direct Sound]"

prebuffering set to 2 seconds,
live playback latency set to Minimum

default Sound device in Windows (10) is JRiver Media Center 22

using the speakers attached to the computer

when playing an internet game, the sound sometimes goes away for 20+ seconds and then comes back,

this works correctly when the default sound device is set to the ""High definition audio device" instead of "JRiver Media Center 22"

Please advise.

Play with the live playback latency settings... minimum might be too low for your machine, especially if you are using a recent nvidia graphics card, as they screw with dpc.

also play with the buffering in the audio device->device settings in your zone config.

lastly, look up a dpc latency benchmark tool, and run it while playing a game. i'm willing to bet that it's a bit on the high (bad) side.
