New HDR function works but....
« on: October 19, 2016, 01:21:40 pm »

I just tested the new HDR function RO HQ (passthrough HDR content to display) with some clips from LG and Sony. It works  ;D looks amazing but:

i7-4770T: ~43% CPU utilization, 3.2 GB RAM utilization
EVGA GTX 960 SSC 4GB: 2.5 GB VRAM utilization; 80% GPU utilization@max boostclock

chroma up-scaling: BC75+AR, ordered dithering

The non passthrough options are too taxing for GTX 960 >98% GPU utilization leading to dropped frames.

Fun  :)

I just got a new HDR, Dolby Vision capable TV and was wondering where these new options are?

You have to enable HDR on the TV and in the madVR option's under Devices->Your Monitor Name ->HDR. On my LG TV I had to enable HDR and 10 bit color under general settings. You must look into your monitor's documentation how it works in your case. For 10 bit you have to enable BT.2020 in the madVR settings Devices->Your Monitor Name ->Calibration.
