Occasional Loss Of Connection
« on: November 08, 2016, 01:11:56 am »

Hi

I have MC running on my Main PC in the study as a server. I also use this PC as my main PC for all things, mail downloads general internet stuff.

When I startup I have MC starting and the Media Sever starting. As my AV Amp and streamer are switched on they appear in Playing Now as they should.

I run everything through JRemote on an iPad Mini running iOs 10.1.1

I have a Zone Switch switching all Audio to my Streamer and all Video to my Mede8er . This works fine.

Every now and then my streamer just stops, when I check MC (and JRemote) its gone missing on the Playing now area. On desperate occasions I have had to restart the streamer and restart the PC

My network may be a bit peculiar I have an Asus RT AC87U router and a EA AC88 Media bridge. These are connected wirelessly (This is designed to be a "Matching Pair" for exactly this duty) , all connections to the router and the Media Bridge are hard wired. The connection appears fine with a signal transfer of 500 + Mbs

Any thoughts . I can't decide which end is the culprit. I am wondering if something background on the PC is the cause , maybe a download ending or something.

Cheers

I have also experienced this recently, with JRemote on an iPad Pro (iOS 10.1.1) and MC (22.0.34) running on a Windows 7 machine.  Everything except the iPad is wired via GbE.  My typical playback is via a CuBox running Kodi.

I reported a hang/lockup with JRemote and JRiver 22.0.34 over in the "Media Center 22.0.34 for Windows -- Available here" thread some time ago.  I didn't know (and still don't know) whether that's the fault of iOS 10 or not.  The JRemote app (even if restarted on the iPad) ends up loosing the ability to control Kodi playback.  The in-progress track continues to its end.

What I have noticed is that, if walk to the study and kill the Media Center process and restart it, it can take quite some time for the network-attached DLNA renderers to "reappear".

Sounds similar

I am not sure the iOS is involved . I can see a network map for my Router and media bridge both of which show my CXN Streamer attached to the network.

J River is not showing it as a DLNA renderer under playing now. It shows my AV Amp but that is running on Wi fI. The streamer is hard wired

for example just now it played 3 tracks and the disappeared. The only way back is to restart the streamer , despite it being visible on the network.

Equally another server type app I am evaluating shows the CXN active as well

It all points to MC not making the connection or losing it.

How often does MC poll the network looking for devices ?

Help !!! Anybody any thoughts ?
