A few questions about ripping regular and HDCD gold c.d.'s
« on: October 25, 2017, 06:10:46 am »

Hi:
I am new at ripping c.d.'s and I am trying the free trial here and I have a few questions:
1- When ripping a c.d.,do I need to move any specific setting to obtain an exact copy,or is it all done automatically?
2- I have a number of MFSL gold c.d.'s I would like to rip...anything special I need to do in the settings??...same goes for Audio Fidelity HDCD gold c.d's.
3- Is the subscription here a one time thing,or do I pay yearly, etc?
I am using Windows 10 desktop.
I am very new to all this,so bear with me.Thanks,Huck

1. Enable Secure Ripping.
2. Enable Secure Ripping.
3. The purchase covers Media Center 23 and all its updates. But upgrades to the future major versions (e.g. Media Center 24) are a paid upgrade - major versions usually come out every year during the Summer months. There's no requirement to upgrade - if you enjoy Media Center 23 you can stick with it as long as you want. You can read more here about how upgrades work: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,81987.0.html

But yeah, I do recommend that Secure Ripping should be enabled. It'll take a more time to rip CDs, but it pays off in the end, especially if you have discs that are really scratched.

Media Center's Options > CD, DVD & BD section > set Copy mode to Secure. You probably would want to enable the "Auto-create log file in secure rip mode" box shown in this screenshot too (to see if anything went right or something went wrong).

I already had ripped 5 c.d's using the "old' settings...so should I re-do those rips with the newer settings for
 better audio quality?
Regarding that screen shot you are showing, should all my settings be the same as those boxes ticked in blue...everything the same as the sample...not sure?!  :-[Thanks,Huck
