  • "I picked a helluva day to install MC!"
Work in Progress
« on: December 18, 2017, 11:34:28 am »

I see a ton of value here.

I have to admit though. I am sometimes... nay, often daunted by some of the complexities I see here. I'm intimidated. I have had lots of success and lots of failures getting MC to work the way I want it. The way I've seen it. The way people describe it. I'm still part of the "work in progress."

I see a problem, in that there is just SO MUCH information about how to get MC to do things, but it doesn't exist in what I would consider a digestible format. There are user guides (wikis), many are out of date. There seems to be a seemingly endless number of nice, knowledgeable people who participate here in the Forum. But I cannot deny that I have felt like a good certification in networking/Linux/dlna to understand more, to improve my setup, or to fix a problem.

I absolutely hate stating a problem without a potential solution, but I haven't figured out a good proposal.

The wiki is pretty good.  Was there an article you've seen that is out of date?  Some of the articles mention old versions, but that's usually just to specify when the feature was added.

JRiver Media Center covers a lot of ground, so it's not possible to write comprehensive tutorials.  In networking alone, there are so many possible combinations of equipment and goals that I can't imagine how you could do it.

Computing is a big complicated topic, but a Google search will usually find you a place where you can learn what you want to know.

Jim - I have not found a good description of the New Tag Window, though I have tried.  I have been through threads here, and also the video provided by one helpful user.  I have gone through it on a trial and error basis.

Understanding the Customization feature has been elusive for me, though.  The rest is pretty obvious.  The Wiki does not address Customization, since it is still about the old version.
