Upgrade MC 23 and 24 Crashes and library corrupted?
« on: April 14, 2018, 01:16:16 pm »

HI There,

I have been using MC22 which was quite stable for video on my WDTV and Sony TV (android).

I decided it was time to upgrade.

When I went up to MC 23 everything looked fine.  Panel worked well and my WDTV seemed to work.  Unfortunately, I did not try it on my new Sony TV.

on My Sony TV, the library looked all corrupted.  All video file disappeared and instead has strangely names directories which corresponded to audio files (i.e., names of singers as directories).  MC23 also crashed everytime I tried it.  The same with MC24.  I have had to downgrade back tro MC22.

When I reinstalled MC22, everything works fine again...

thoughts?

I appear to have fixed the problem (for MC23) by using the following setting which someone else (can't recall who) had posted a while back.

I forgot to modify the DLNA settings assuming that they would have transferred automatically from the previous version.

For others,  these are the settings that work:

VIDEO:
     Mode: Original
Format: H264-TS very high bandwidth stream auto fps
Video Advanced:
     Enable: DLNA; DLNAExtra; Enable bitrate Field; Present Caption Resources;
Present Small Artwork; Present Subtitle Resources
Empty values for Video MimeType Override & Video DLNA Override

The most important change from stock here is the Video Mode = Original.
It looks like your TV must be able to play most anything if you can get away with original format.

The Enable bitrate field is good in general BUT the WD can't handle that, it's got a bug in the firmware dealing with the bitrate.

If you want to keep using the bitrate field create 2 servers, one for the WD and another for the TV otherwise you might want to remove the bitrate field. You'd most likely notice the difference in the ability to seek when that's off.
