Hi,

If I enable BitStream S/PDIF ==> DSPStudio - Output format will be disabled?

DSPStudio - Output format: channels, JRSSmixin, output encoding.
Thank you!

If you mean does bitstreaming mean that you are using passthrough, then my recent investigation suggest no. But I dont know that for a fact.

I asked the other day if it was possible to just pass the encoded audio track via hdmi to my receiver to decode but I didnt get an answer.

Are you having issues with film audio tracks? No 5.1? Error messages from MC and the video not starting?

If you use bitstreaming in MC, the file is delivered unchanged to the DAC.

Really? I've spent several hours recently trying to achieve exactly this and cant from MC. However, an alternative player set to passthrough just works.

I cant find any way to get MC to pass the encoded stream to my receiver. The only way I can get MC to pass an encoded stream is to select Dolby Digital output encoding, and that is obviously just re encoding the DSP output.

Please tell me I'm missing something fundamental and obvious as this has beaten me. I cant get a 5.1 output  that works but I do get loads of error messages and videos not playing.

What are you trying to bitstream?  Does the DAC support it?

5.1 on an HDMI connection may not be possible.

Is the HDMI port on a video card?  Does it support the format?

I'm trying to bitstream the 5.1 audio from ripped blurays. They all work using passthrough from a Mede8er STB. My receiver is quite old and optical / spdf audio only but can decode DD and DTS 5.1.

The output is from my NUC6 hdmi with Intel HD audio which supports up to 7.1 channels but I appreciate optical only supports up to 5.1 and not the HD streams. No problems with music (stereo).

I'm guessing MC might be selecting a 7.1 HD stream and then finding it cant be played, although if I select a 7.1 channel passthrough on the Mede8er, most often my receiver can cope with it (downmixing it?). I have had some success with ripped dvds that only have low res 5.1 or even 2.0 streams.

I've had no luck setting 5.1 channels in MC and using DSP - just get error messages and the video not even starting. I'm not sure why MC refuses to start the video as the hdmi is plugged into my TV which then passes the signal via optical out. Same path works with the Mede8er.

Is there anyway I can force MC to play using a particular stream?

robt, I took a stab at answering your question in your original thread. We do not have the same issue.
