Most of you probably do not actually see Chinese in these posts. You only see the encoding code. When you come to this thread, if you see a lot of characters such as these: Ä ã º Ã (accented characters), you are not seeing Chinese at all. To see Chinese, set Encoding in View menu to something that says "Chinese Simplified"

Now how do you type something in Chinese

and every time the screen refreshes it changes back to standard. is there a way to set it so you can see "Chinese Simplified" all the time?

There are many ways to type. I use the simplest way by spelling the sound of each character using the English letters. The software would suggest the correct words,  and in most cases I would have to make a selection among ones that sound the same.

I wonder about this too. Somehow this web page defaults to "Latin 9 (ISO)" encoding, whatever that is.
