I searched, but I can't find anything on this error.

Whether I try to start installing Media Jukebox 8, or Media Center 9 (two different versions) on two different computers I get this same message (across all 6 possible installs)

I get the message while the very first thin window called "Media Center Setup" is up. I get about 7 bars across (25%) and the error pops up.

Clicking 'Ok' on the error leaves the install window up, but it never advances.


I'm really frustrated here so if anyone has any idea, please let me know.

Oh yea, is this made using InstallShield? I wonder if that might be the problem.

Ha! I figured it out. Star Downloader was corrupting *every* download. Time to uninstall that from every machine.

why do people use download managers?

I don't really see a need for one, am i missing something?

it normaly only takes 1 min or less to download anything

I guess maybe if you don't have a Cable or DSL modem?

Well, the main system I was working on is my lappie that I use at home and at work. At work I also maintain a repository of the last three versions of every Linux release, so I'm downloading _several_ 600+ MB files a day usually. Getting that file split into 5-8 chunks greatly reduces the amount of time needed. Yes, they do cause problems some times. Yes, they serve a purpose for some people. Yes, they are unnecessary for most people not on dialup unless they too are grabbing large files for whatever reason.
