My Panasonic plasma will accept 25p and 50p input, even though it's a US NTSC model. All I have to do is add 25p and 50p as custom resolutions in my Intel HD Graphics 630 driver to make it available. I actually used the MadVR custom display modes tab to add it. (For anyone messing in there, create a system restore point first!)
But there is a problem with automatic display mode switching.
I'm using ROHQ, and if I add both 1080p25 and 1080p50 in MadVR, it will switch the video to either just fine. But there is no audio unless the resolution set in the MC Display Settings Automatic Change Mode (custom) for PAL matches the video fps.
25 fps video with MC display switcher PAL set to 50 = no audio
50 fps video with MC display switcher PAL set to 25 = no audio
25 fps video with MC display switcher PAL set to 25 = yes audio
50 fps video with MC display switcher PAL set to 50 = yes audio
For now I have MC Display Settings Automatic Change Mode (custom) for PAL (25/50 fps) set to 1920x1080x50, and have removed 1080p25 from MadVR resolutions. 1080p50 is included plus the usual NTSC framerates (23,24,59,60).
This makes both 25 and 50 fps both playback at 50 fps with audio working, even with bitstreaming.
But my plasma can display 25p signals at 100p (similar to how it displays 24p at 96p). I prefer this over displaying it at 50p.
So here's the feature request: Can you split Automatic Change Mode (custom) for PAL (25/50 fps) into two separate settings? One for PAL 25 fps and one for PAL 50 fps?
This would allow me to send 50 fps video to my display at 50p and 25 fps video to my display at 25p, allowing the display to show it at 100p.
Thanks!
