I do not understand the video cache
« on: March 22, 2019, 07:02:28 am »

I would be glad to know scenarios triggering the video cache available under Options > File Location > Conversion Cache.

I tried to play files via Gizmo and Panel from Libraries running on all 3 OSes and no matter the settings I activate, there is no files popping in the video cache folder. It works fine for audio though.

I also tried to enable a very low bitrate codec under Options > Media Network > Client Options > Video Conversion.

The only disk I/O activity I noticed is temp files written in ~/.jriver/Media Center 24/Temp/ (for Linux, didn't check the other OSes).

I might be wrong but I expected a transcoded file put in the cache folder to handle smaller bandwidth when accessing MC from outside the house.

I'm certainly missing something, any thoughts from JRiver veterans?
