Hello again :)

These are a GREAT thing but the way they're set up makes them quite awkward to use.

Because of their nature of having loads of different values that a file can be accessed by, having previous values in a drop down field doesn't really work too well unless your associating the exact same values to similar files which when your doing combination of values doesn't work too well.

What would really work GREAT here is a box like the one in the wizard where it lists all the values and we use a check box to select the ones we want.

If for the properties we could click on a button and have it bring up all the existing values and we could check the ones we wanted the file to be in it would work sooo much better.

This would work great for:

Assigning multiple people to a picture (John, Sam, Sarah)
Assigning moods to a song (mellow, happy, romantic)

Basically for any time people want to assign multiple values to one file and want to keep some kind of consistency with the values they are using.

It'd also need some easy way to add new values to the list.

Any chance of this for list value fields??
Pretty please? It would REALLY transform how easy it was to use MC for tagging for pictures etc.

Pretty pretty please? :)

no one else would find this a lot easier a way of dealing with putting files into multiple categories for the list type? :(

Yep Nila, I agree.

Setting multiple values in semicolon delimited list is not natural in the way it is done now. It is true that this is particulary true when orgnazing pictures. Just have a look at how 'Paint shop album' or 'Photoshop album' assign multiple keywords, through tree and box views.
If JRiver really want to push MC as a serious photo organizer contender then it's certainly something to look at !

JMHO,

If you want a GUI you could use Playlists / Groups and the Playlist pane.

Otherwise, use drag-n-drop for list types.

There may be enhancements in this area in a future verison.

Matt,

That is the perfect type of GUI for it with the exception that adding new items isn't located on that part of the screen.

The problem is though that it will clutter up the playlist area and also that the files would then just be in playlists rather than searchable.
We could then go through the playlists and tag them seperately after but this is just making it too much of a hassle to be worth it.
