Spotify stuttering at start of play since switching to SSD
« on: August 10, 2019, 07:36:30 am »

Been running JRiver 23 as player for Spotify (JRiver WMD, Win 7 Pro 64, ext DAC WASAPI) without problems on a laptop that is used as a dedicated music server. Just switched to SSD on the laptop and now get stuttering at start of play on Spotify, no problems when playing my own music library. It seems to be worst when playing the first song after opening Spotify, but I often get a tiny bit of stuttering at start of other tracks. It disappears after two or three seconds or less but is still annoying. I've tried lots of system tweaks and am sure the SSD is running properly. It's a pretty stripped back system that otherwise runs perfectly. It's as if the start of playback is so quick (due to fast SSD?) that it is creating a lag with the wifi stream, at least that's the only thing I can think of. Any suggestions such as playing silence, buffering, latency etc. that cure this?
