So MC26 has a status bar at the bottom that shows a single piece of information.  The UI has plenty of real estate to show more information simultaneously.

Here is what MC26 shows during start-up:

Unfortunately, one piece of information replaces what was there.  There is plenty of room on these screenshots to share all of this information:  status, track count, current operation

Yeah, I've often been annoyed that I can't easily get some quick stats on the tracks I have selected because MC is stuck on a long tag update process.

Along these same lines, I'd love a task view of some sort that shows you the list of tasks that MC has queued up and is working on.

Changed: The statusbar shows the file status on the right and the working (or ready) status in the center.
