Is there a way to schedule library backups?
« on: April 23, 2003, 02:10:41 pm »

Can you use the media scheduler to automatically backup your library periodically?  There should be a way to do this if there isn't.

Hi,

No, I don't see any way to do this at the moment. But this could be suggested for future MC versions.
Or simply an option that would automatically backup the current library each time MC exits !

have a nice day,

Second Copy 2000 backs up my Media Center/Data directory every time I reboot the PC :)

It's older brother, second copy '97, which works just as well btw, has been given away free on countless magazine cd's. Well worth a look imo.

Thanks Marko,
seems like a pretty good utility.

If you have WinZip, you can download the WinZip Command Line extension. Then just schedule a winzip job in Windows Task Scheduler. Zip up the Program Files\J River\MediaCenter\Data directory, or wherever your library is.

This command: mjextman.exe /MCC 20011,0 will open the backup window with everything ready filled out, so you can hit enter. It can be put in a batch file. Or a lot better: Use Girder. Then you will send the enter as a keystroke from Girder, and you can use alarm timer to schedule backups whenever you want to.
