How do I avoid Panel when looking for Id files from PC?
« on: July 12, 2020, 12:41:49 pm »

With my old Mac, could use Finder to view files on my networked Id library server. I got a new laptop running Windows 10, and I can't view (much less move, copy, etc.) files on the Id.  When I open File Explorer and click on Network, I can see the Id, listed both as a "media Device" and as "Other Devices" as a library server, but when I click on any of those icons it goes straight to Panel.  How do I stop Panel from showing up?  Not that I dislike Panel as a music controller --  but I want to be able to do file management on the Id from a networked computer.

Windows 10 deprecated the SMB protocol used for discovery of shares.
The easiest way to get around that is to assign a fixed DHCP lease to your Id so you know it will always the same IP address then on the windows machine to find the share do
\\1.2.3.4\
Where 1.2.3.4 is the address of you Id.
You'll then see the InternalStorage and ExternalStorage shares.
You can then create a shortcut on your desktop to those shares for easy future access.
