14.      No sound when watching TV using the TV tuner card (an ATI TV Wonder).

15.      No sound in WMV video recordings.

16.      No sound in AVI video recordings.

Does your TV tuner card have a Line-Out for you to make connection to the sound card? Did you check the check box "There is a physical audio connection from my TV tuner card to my sound card" and select appropriate sound device and audio channel?

What is the version of your driver?

17.      AVI video recordings have "PICVideo" emblazoned across the top and www.jpg.com across the bottom.

This is a PicVideo License issue. I believe if you have a paid license for PicVideo compressor, you will not have the "extras" on the video. Alternatively you can use other video compressors.

The TV tuner is connected via the CD Input of the sound card and that is how Media Center is set up.

What video compressor should I select from the Media Center dialog?

Is it possible for you to connect to Line-In instead of CD Audio?

I assume ATI 's program works fine?

Video capture driver. Go to Device manager and look for it under "Sound, video and game controllers". Look for entries that have "ATI", or "TV Wonder", or "WDM" in them.

JRiver Video Codec. Beware that we are still sorting out some issues.

Some people have had good experience with DivX codec.

ATI's program works fine and so does other video recording software. This problem exists in Media Center even when I use the Line-In.

The version is 4.12.3.0

I get the error I noted using a J River codec. I am not given the option to use a DIVX codec.

You need to download and install it yourself. It is available herehttp://www.divx.com/divx/. Be aware that there are three versions available for download, one that you have to pay for, one with adware, the third is free but has smaller set of functionality.

So does Media Center not support recording in MPEG without licensing additional third party software?

What about the no sound issues?

MC supports most video codec that are installed on your computer, but we do not distribute them except JRiver Video Codec, which is, at least, MPEG-like.

I have no answer to your sound issue yet. Please take a look of other TV related recent threads. Some users solved their sound problems in some innovative ways.

Your video card is "TV Wonder", not "TV Wonder VE", not "TV Wonder USB", right?

Yes. The video card is the TV Wonder PCI.

Well, I still do not have a good answer for you yet.

Do you have a Sound Blaster Audigy card? We have seen quite a few problems with this sound card.

Without regard to what sound card you have, updating the sound card driver sometimes solves the problems.

Also, please try this:

On TV Options Dialog, go to the "Advance Properties" tab. Double-click "Second Crossbar..." if it exists, otherwise double-click "Video Crossbar...". In the resulting dialog, select "Audio Decoder Out" from the drop-down list in the "Output" section, and check what appears in the drop-down list in the "Input" section. It should be "Audio Tuner In". If it is not, try setting it to "Audio Tuner In".

Another thing to look at:

Again in "Advanced Properties", double-click "Audio Capture Filter...". In the resulting dialog, make sure "Line-In" (or "CD Audio" or whichever channel your tuner's sound is connected to) is the one that is Enabled.
