Editing .xml Files
« on: December 29, 2020, 07:18:35 am »

I attempted to edit the resources.xml file to tailor television keyboard commands to my Harmony Companion hub-based remote, but I could not save the changes, due to administrator or owner priveledges.  I was logged on as Administrator in Windows 10 and gave full user control permission to the JRiver folder.  What ielse do I need to do?

You create a new folder in the MC \Data\ folder called "Custom Resources" and save your edited xml file inside that, naming it the same, ie, Resource.xml

As long as that file exists, MC will give it priority over the default one, and, when you update MC, the file in the 'Custom' folder will prevail meaning you won't have to do your edits all over again, as the default one will be overwritten.

If you still have trouble saving the file into the "Custom Resources" folder, you should save the file first into your normal Documents folder, or your desktop, or where ever Windows allows you.  Then you can copy/move the file into Custom Resources.
