Streaming "Streaming" to a DLNA
« on: March 31, 2022, 03:18:16 pm »

We have all these channels under streaming like BBC, last.FM, youtube, etc.  They pop up nicely in a JRiver Window.  But how do I get those to stream to my DLNA device?  Or, is this not possible?

If it isn't possible, let me know so I quit trying to look for something that isn't there.

Many thanks

I add them to the library like other media and they play just fine to DLNA devices (well depending on the devices compatibility to the stream format that is).

I tried dragging youtube and BBC into the library - that didn't work.  I tried right-clicking them for an option to add to library and didn't see anything.  How do you add them to the library?  Sorry, I cannot figure it out.  Thanks!

In MC
- File --> Open URL
- Paste in the URL
- Check "show web media options when opening to allow recording and more"
- OK

On the next Diag Box
- Check "Add stream to web media"

This will add it to your MC Library.  You should then be able to find it, add coverart, tag it up etc

Does JRemote have the ability to show it as well, or can playback only be controlled from MC itself?

Thanks,

I use JRemote all the time to play these streams both locally (on the phone) and to DLNA Zones (say the speaker in the shed)

I must be missing something then.  Where do the

  Streaming > Web Media

choices end up getting listed in JRemote?  Looking at the left-hand banner within JRemote (on an iPad), the "Streaming" group just consists of (what I believe to be) the built-in "Radio Paradise *" and "Radio JRiver *" choices.  The new entry in Web Media added to MC doesn't show up there.

The "Audio" group just consists of my previously setup Views.

Thanks for your help,
  Matt

Ah, it's under "Playlists".  Had not thought of looking there for it.

You change change the "media type" / "media sub type" tags to make them appear where you want.
