Preset not respected in DSP tag/field ?
« on: February 21, 2022, 03:51:45 am »

Greatday all, would be great if the following scenario could be confirmed or corrected in case I'm doing it wrongly:

I've added, via a Smartlist, a custom DSP preset to all my TV Channels.
This in order to have a slight corrected mid frequencies when watching TV (voicing).

At initial testing the preset does work and gets activated and verified by the Audio Path.
But after first playing some Audiofile/Music the 'TV DSP' preset doesn't get activated.

FYI all the music files have also a dedicated DSP preset where only leveling is been used, no EQ'ing.
So i would think all needed DSP fields are available but when switching to a TV channel the corresponding DSP preset doesn't get activated.

Thanks for any clue or potential workaround, maybe it's due the usage of a Smartlist, but i can't see another way to customize tags for TV channels.

Cheers.

Hi, does anyone has some advice or workaround ?
Questioning how do others switch actively between DSP-presets ?

Thanks for any clue or pointers onto this topic.

Cheers !

DSP might not get loaded when playing a TV channel.  It might only work with audio files.

Thanks for your feedback Matt,

This is indeed what I'm seeing at this stage (28.0.106).

Q: would you able to change or modify how such 'tags' are been respected within MC ?

I would guess the request or possibility to 'attach' a certain DSP preset to TV Channels makes sense to some users not ?
Not something over the top or superfancy by such :-)

Thanks again for your help, would be great if this could be achieved within the near future, like p.e. in MC29 which I've already paid for :-)

Cheers,

I've added, via a Smartlist, a custom DSP preset to all my TV Channels.

How did you manage to do that?  My TV Channels smartlist does not allow me to show DSP field because the field was designated for Audio, Image, and Video only.  I don't mind adding TV channels to it but I am just wondering why you could do it now.

OK, I get it.

You were using Tag window to edit tags.  I was trying to display DSP in a column.  The way it was, the DSP field does not show up when you right-click a column header, and thus a DSP column could not be created.

It feels like inconsistent, or a loop hole.

In any case, for MC29, I have added TV media type as one of the media types that allow DSP field, and therefore you can create a DSP column too.  Mystery solved.

And just so you know, I have made the following change in MC29 already, it will be available in an upcoming new build of MC29.

2. NEW: DSP presets can be set on TV channels, and will be honored when the channels are played.
