Problem: Media Network, HDR content
« on: March 22, 2022, 07:17:44 pm »

Just started playing about with DLNA and Library Server (28) for the first time.

Seems to be working very well except for one odd problem.

HDR video contained in MP4 files is not recognized by the LG TV as HDR.
HDR video contained in MKV files works fine.

Both file types are recognized as HDR when playing back on the PC using JRiver (madVr automatically selects the correct profile for HDR tone mapping or passthrough as required).

Media server is setup to deliver files without conversion.

Hoping someone has encountered this problem before to save me spending too much time troubleshooting it, or at least has some tips on the likely places to look for problems.

Take a look at Zones and ZoneSwitch on our wiki.  You could set up a zone for the MP4 files and set it differently.

MakeMKV may be able to convert them.
