I am using JRiver MC v 28.0.106, JRemote v 3.36 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max using Bluetooth to connect to an iFi Go Blu headphone interface.  My desired playlist consists of various tunes some of which are 44.1k/16bit all the way up to 192k/24bit.

When I play the highest resolution files, the song start out okay but after a couple of seconds into each song, the playback begins to "stutter" and break up which says to me that there is a buffering issue somewhere along the line.  Other than biting the bullet and "recoding" the music down to a lower sampling rate and bit depth for the iPhone/ifi Go Blu setup specifically, is there any way, such as DSP Studio which works on the machine where JRiver MC is installed but probably not on remote "zones" like this iPhone, to get JRiverMC/JRemote to automagically down convert the songs on playback?

Thanks!

Unfortunately there isn't a way to DSP studio the "remote" zone currently, been looking at that possibility but it's pretty complex since that's not really a zone.

If you are on the LAN it's a bit unclear to me why you'd get the stuttering. The iPhone will have to convert the high sample rate material but that's not something that JRemote does, it's the bluetooth subsystem on the iPhone.

Bob,

Thanks for the follow up.  Yes I am on the LAN with the MC installation on the HTPC

Interestingly, when I play to the iPhone 13 Pro Max using the internal sound system of the phone, no bluetooth, I get stuttering too.  So maybe, somehow, it is the phone's wireless connection that is causing the problem.  Let me investigate.

Bingo!  My iPhone was connecting to one of the two routers that I have in an ASUS AiMesh system.  I bound the iPhone to the main router instead of one of the AiMesh systems and no more stuttering.  Go figure!

Roger that.  One would think, however, that the AiMesh routers would be able to supply enough bandwidth for audio being connected via ethernet to the main router.

Maybe in the future DSP to zones other than the main PC, excluding the iPhone type connection, could be accomplished because that would be a nice bonus.
