Just moved up to the beta from MC 9 because I was fed up with it hanging when writing CD text...which I want, and having to turn off/restart to get my CD out of the drive....

Now it burns, it opens, but what it gives me is garbled... like I'm using the wrong...forgotten its name... in any case MJ8 and MC9 had a check box for internal/external and one had this effect on me and the other didn't.... only I can't find the check box in 9beta.... anyone understand enough of this to be able to help me out?

ASPI layer? If your burner is not working properly you may want to look at the thread about burners. I think it is one of the sticky threads at the top of this forum page. At any rate you can post in there and maybe have a better shot at getting your ?? answered.

that's the word I was looking for... and thanks, I have posted on the thread on does your burner work with this version.... along with all the others who have my model of CD burner!

Is it just the CD-Text that's garbled, or is the whole CD unusable? Can you give some more detail on the problem? MC9 doesn't use aspi on WinXP so you don't need to worry about that.

The CD Text is FAB its the AUDIO that is garbled... sounds like I'm playing an old record at the wrong speed.

Below are the tech specs for MJ8 that means I get CD audio and CDtext output as I want it, but have to restart the computer to get the CD out of the drive  

don't know if this sheds any light on the problem

Does it help at all if you uncheck the "decode directly" option and also uncheck "apply cross-fade & dsp..." option?

No. Both unchecked. Audio still garbled. :-/

Maybe if you describe the audio problem a little more I might get some ideas. I assume you are hearing music, it's not just white noise hissing. Is it scratchy or does it have pops, clicks, silent gaps? Or is it strictly the speed problem and is it lower pitched or higher pitched than it's supposed to be. Is the sound problem consistent across the recording or does it vary?
Does it help at all to record at 2X instead of full speed?

If your cd drive has an audio cable to the sound card, you could use MC's sound recorder to record a short section of a problem CD and then email the file to me (mp3 or whatever format). Just choose "CD Audio" as the recording source in the sound recorder options and set the volume to 50% or something like that.

The CDs are speech, not music, the hissiness is no more than would be expected from a digital copy from a tape.  I've tried recording at 40x and 24x both gave the same problem and I didn't fancy making more coasters just for the heck of it.
